From the moment we arrived in Rafaela there was talk about "the old cars" on Saturday. With all we have going on- I thought "great an old car museum" but I wasn't prepared for a 1920's to the 1930's caravan for us to tour the city! Our personal parade flew the Argentina, American and Rotary flag and was led by a fire truck.
After the secound highlight of my day--Swimming...it was fabulous!!!! Came story time! I joined 46 kids when they came to story hour with a retired librarian named Christina. She was at a school for 38 years and had both my host mom and her daughter in school.
Christina ran a right ship with snapping and clapping at the kids when they were loud. But in a perfect retired librarian way. The kids loved her with her huge bag of stuffed animals they got to "read to" from the magic suitcase's stash of books. This old fashioned case only opened when they said the magic words. Neat to know that abracadabra exists in Spanish to. All the kids rush the case to choose their books and then ended up fighting over who got to read to me!
